At The Art of Dentistry and Spa, we believe that dental health is of primary importance and healthy teeth can make you feel beautiful. But beauty goes beyond the teeth, so we’ve added eyebrow microblading to our spa offerings. Read on for our eyebrow microblading artist Diane Bowman’s information on what is involved with this process.
Microblading is a form of tattooing
Unlike a regular tattoo, microblading is a form of tattoo artistry where pigment is implanted under your skin with a manual handheld tool instead of a machine. Hair-like strokes are drawn with the tool to mimic natural hairs in your brows. Even though it’s not as deep as the regular tattoo, it’s still a tattoo because pigment is implanted under the skin.
Clients will require two visits for the treatment to reach its full potential; after your first visit, you will be required to revisit your microblading technician for a touch up, 4-6 weeks after your initial visit. The time between visits allows your brows to “heal” and will give the pigment color a chance to develop to its true potential.
You need to prepare
If you drink a lot, take aspirin, or use retinol, stop one week before your treatment. Retinol makes your skin thin, making you bleed a little more. Avoid blood thinners, aspirin, and alcohol.
If you are someone who visits a doctor for Botox regularly, it is highly recommended that you do not have the microblading procedure done until 4-6 weeks after receiving Botox injections, and if you have recently had the microblading procedure done, it is recommended that you wait at least 4 weeks after your second microblading treatment before having Botox injections.
It doesn’t hurt (too much)
Pain is relative. Some feel more than others. Overall, it feels like little scratches. You feel it, but it’s not unbearable.
Prepping client’s brows with topical numbing cream and reapplying throughout the process definitely will dull the discomfort.
Microblading takes time
The procedure can take up to two hours for new clients. Microblading is a precise technique and great results require time.
