Look your best!
Teeth are living things, and within them are nerves and blood vessels, commonly called the pulp. Sometimes a tooth can get infected or traumatized. When this happens, the pulp within the tooth can become irreversibly damaged. A tooth with pulp that needs treatment requires root canal treatment. When this happens, the pulp within the tooth can become irreversibly damaged. A tooth with pulp that needs treatment requires root canal treatment.
When you undergo a root canal, the inflamed or infected pulp is removed and the inside of the tooth is carefully cleaned and disinfected, then filled and sealed with a rubber-like material called gutta-percha. Afterwards, the tooth is restored with a crown or filling for protection and will continue to function like any other tooth.
Saving the natural tooth with root canal treatment has many advantages:
- Efficient chewing
- Normal biting force and sensation
- Natural appearance
- Protection of other teeth from excessive wear or strain
