Dr. Chencharik: So a smile makeover and a full mouth reconstruction, they’re under the same category. What we’re trying to do with any smile makeover is create the teeth that the patient wants, whether it’s their old teeth or a completely different smile. You have different levels of that, which would be veneers or crowns, and at some periods of time, you need to do more teeth. When you’re doing a lot of teeth, that is more of considered a full mouth rehab. When it’s a few teeth, you can still revamp the smile with even just one restoration, but many people that need to revamp their smile need multiple. When it comes to many, whether it be all of your teeth on the top arch or all the teeth on the bottom arch or both of them, that’s what we would consider a full mouth rehab, where it’s literally in the name. You’re reconstructing or rehabbing your full mouth, however that works. It could be all on four, all on X, it could be veneers, crowns, or bridges. That’s what would be considered a full mouth rehab.
What we do at the Art of Dentistry, at least in my dental chair, is we’re trying to handcraft each and every restoration for that person. So the goal is not to have this generic one smile fits all. We’re trying to talk to the patient. We’re trying to bounce ideas off of that patient to make sure that the experience is as positive as it can be and the restoration is as unique as that individual.
